Philadelphia Mayor James Kenney To Keynote Tech Impact Awards Luncheon, Celebrating 15 Years of Community Impact
PHILADELPHIA – October 30, 2018 – Tech Impact, a 501(c)(3) provider of nonprofit technology solutions and the operator of award-winning IT training programs for young adults, is hosting its annual awards luncheon on November 2 from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia. Mayor of Philadelphia James Kenney will deliver the keynote address, which will focus on the importance of workforce development initiatives.
The Tech Impact Awards Luncheon is the region’s premiere technology-focused philanthropic event that brings together more than 400 regional technology and business executives who are committed to improving the lives of individuals in the community through technology training. Mayor Kenney’s keynote address is expected to highlight the need for workforce development initiatives in the community and the value of providing underrepresented individuals with opportunities to secure careers in the technology field.
The event raises funds to help young adults gain the skills and experience needed to secure jobs through Tech Impact’s workforce development program, ITWorks. Another highlight of this year’s luncheon is the celebration of Tech Impacts 15th year of operation. Since 2003, Tech Impact has educated more than 500 people through its workforce development programs and helped more than 1,000 nonprofits leverage technology.
“Tech Impact’s mission is to empower communities and nonprofits to use technology to better serve the world and we are doing just that through our expansive workforce development programs,” commented Patrick Callihan, Executive Director at Tech Impact. “We’re thrilled that Mayor Kenney will be delivering the keynote address. We share the common goal of building Philadelphia’s workforce, especially in the technology sector. We appreciate the support we receive for our programs and look forward to continuing to uplift communities with training and education opportunities.”
The Tech Impact Awards Luncheon is presented by lead sponsor, The Precisionists, Inc., led by its CEO, Ernie Dianastasis, and opening remarks will be delivered by Tech Impact’s Board Chair, Paul Jaskot, Partner at Holland & Knight, LLP.
